Random Color Picker

Roll a random color and copy its HEX, RGB and HSL codes.

How to pick a random color

  1. Hit Generate random color, or press the spacebar, to land on a color.
  2. Narrow it with a mode pill first, like Cool or Muted, if you have a direction in mind.
  3. Keep rolling until one feels right, then click any code to copy it.
  4. Reach back into Recent rolls if you scrolled past one you liked.

What is a random color picker?

A random color picker hands you a color to decide on rather than asking you to build one from scratch. Each press lands on a fresh color and shows its codes, so it works like a decision shortcut: instead of agonising over a hue, you react to what comes up and keep the one that clicks.

When a random pick beats choosing on purpose

  • Choosing an accent when you have a base color but no idea what pairs with it.
  • Filling a prototype with placeholder colors fast.
  • Escaping the same few hues you always reach for by habit.
  • Assigning unmistakably different colors to tags, players or chart series.

How is this different from a color generator?

The two overlap, and this picker shares its engine with the Random Color tool, but the framing differs. A generator is about producing colors in bulk to seed a palette; a picker is about landing on one color to commit to. In practice the workflow is the same here: roll, react, and copy the one you want.

What can I do with a random color once I pick it?

  • Copy its HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV or CMYK with a single click.
  • Use the shade ramp under the color for a lighter or darker version.
  • Send it to the Scheme Generator to build matching colors around it.
  • Fine-tune the exact tone in the Color Picker before you lock it in.
How do I pick a random color?

Press the button or tap the spacebar; a new color appears with its codes, ready to copy.

Can I limit it to certain colors?

Yes. Choose a mode like Warm, Cool or Pastel and every pick stays in that range.

Open Recent rolls under the picker; your last several colors are saved there.

Is this the same as the random color generator?

It uses the same engine as the Random Color tool, framed for picking one color to commit to rather than generating many.
